Aricept

Aricept is a medication that’s prescribed to those diagnosed with either mild dementia or moderate dementia. (Not for Alzheimer’s disease patients) Aricept medicine is known under the generic name: Donepezil. The effectiveness of Aricept is largely dependant on several factors including the individual, their medical history, their following the drug’s directions for dosage and based on other factors in their health. This medicine is not for everyone. It shouldn’t be used by varied individuals including: those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, for people allergic to piperidine derivatives, asthmatics, and those about to have surgery.

Aricept, like all other medications can interact with some medicines so it’s important to discuss with your doctor and pharmacist any medications you are taking either prescribed, over the counter or herbal supplements. Medicines with known interactions include: Ibuprofen, Ketoconazole, neuromuscular blocking agent medications, anticholinerics, Rifampin and some other medications. (This is not a complete list of all contraindicated medications). Resperdal and aricept interactions are also a cause for concern.
Aricept reactions, like other drug interactions could result in a bad allergic reaction or in reduced effectiveness of either medicine as well as increased metabolizing. Most medications like Aricept have side effects and different people have different degrees of severity in their ability to cope with side effects.

Aricept is also making news with recent discoveries about Aricept for downs syndrome, Aricept to treat bipolar disorder and using Aricept for traumatic brain injury and Aricept treatment for neuropathy. Aricept effectiveness varies depending on the individual and a lot of research continues on some of these areas such as Aricept + downs syndrome.

Aricept 10mg tablets are often reduced to 5mg in order to cut Aricept pills dosages. Some people are even fine with a 2.5 mg dosage. For dementia, Aricept continues to increase in popularity as more research reveals areas where it can help with mild dementia.

When there’s a problem with your physical or mental health that medication can help with, it’s a good idea to research the medication to find out if it’s right for you. Not all medications are ideal for 100% of the population but obtaining knowledge via doing your homework both on the drug maker’s website as well as information forums and customer experience websites that post reviews and individual experiences can help you be aware of all the variables so that you can use this knowledge as part of your decision making process.
