Effexor

If you have had general anxiety disorder or depression for several months, you might be a good candidate for Effexor. There’s Effexor, which requires two to three daily doses or Effexor XR which is an extended release drug that only needs to be taken once a day.

There are some things you should know before starting a course of treatment with Effexor medicine. Some drugs can interact with this medication to a severe extent including the result of death. It’s very important that you understand what drugs do not mix well with this drug and that you follow dosing directions carefully. There can also be side effects of Effexor. Some people have mild side effects while others have severe effects or even allergic reactions. This drug can also impact other areas of your life including sexual side effects. While Effexor can be a very helpful drug, it’s important that you discuss it in great detail with your doctor before starting to take it.

Effexor should never be combined with MAO inhibitors including certain antidepressants. There should be at least a fourteen day gap between your taking the MAOI and Effexor. After you complete your Effexor treatment, you must also wait a minimum of seven or more days before starting an MAO inhibitor. Effexor has several known drug interactions. This is not an exhaustive list but some interactions have been known to occur with drugs such as: migraine medicine, some blood pressure meds, HIV drugs and Effexor and alcohol should not be mixed.

Does Effexor have any side effects? Effexor side effects and Effexor XR side effects can happen. Side effects are not always guaranteed and different people have different reactions but some popular ones are: impotence or abnormal ejaculation, blurred vision, dry mouth, weight loss, sweating and nausea. Effexor drug side effects do vary from person to person but Effexor impotence, dysfunction of Effexor or sexual side effects are very common.

Stopping this drug can result in Effexor withdrawal. Withdrawal from Effexor and Effexor XR withdrawal can be difficult, especially if you have been on it for some time. If this drug was used during the late stages of pregnancy, Effexor withdrawal can also occur in a newborn infant.

This drug can be very helpful despite some side effects. Only you and your doctor can decide if it is for you. All drugs do carry risks and potential side effects but some have benefits that outweigh those associated risks.
